WinPure can assign Latitude and Longitude data to your database using extreme accuracy. Geocoding is the process of transforming a description of a location - such as a pair of coordinates, an address, or a name of a place - to a location on the earth's surface

The data is assigned based on the Zip+4 code of the address. This means that searches can be done to find addresses within mere feet of the origin Plus4.

Geocoding is the process of assigning a location, usually in the form of coordinate values (points), to an address by comparing the descriptive location elements in the address to those present in the reference material. Addresses come in many forms, ranging from the common address format of a house number followed by the street name and succeeding information to other location descriptions, such as postal zone or census tract. An address includes any type of information that distinguishes a place.

Geocode services provide the ability to assign locations to address attribute information. You can use a geocode service to:

  • Assign a location to address attributes
  • Generate a list of candidate locations for an attribute
  • Assign address attributes to a location (reverse geocoding)
  • Modify input and output properties associated with the geocode process

By applying this option the software will extract the following GeoCode fields.

Latitude

This field holds the WGS 84 latitude in decimal degrees format.

Longitude

This field holds the WGS 84 longitude in decimal degrees format.

GeoAccuracy

This field holds the GeoAccuracy code.

GeoDistance

This field holds the radius of accuracy in meters, giving an indication of the likely maximum distance between the given geocode and the physical location. Please note that this field is derived from and therefore dependent on the accuracy and coverage of the underlying reference data.
