Knowledge Base Library
The Knowledge Base Library, a very powerful feature designed to significantly improve data matching accuracy by intelligently handling common variations and irrelevant words across different data types.
The Knowledge Base Library works by identifying and either removing or standardizing common words and phrases during the matching process. This ensures that inconsistencies—such as abbreviations, honorifics, or business suffixes—don’t interfere with accurate matches.
No changes are made to your actual data; this enhancement occurs only during the matching logic.
Benefits:
- Improved Matching Accuracy: Reduces false negatives caused by minor differences in text (e.g., "Ave" vs. "Avenue").
- Standardized Name Matching: Resolves nicknames to their formal versions (e.g., “Andy” → “Andrew”), improving person-to-person matches.
- Cleaner Comparisons: Ignores non-essential elements like titles or business suffixes during comparisons, focusing only on the core data.
- No Impact on Source Data: Data remains untouched—changes apply only during matching.
Available Libraries:
- Address Part – Standardizes address elements:
e.g. "123 Main Ave" matches "123 Main Avenue". - Company Types – Ignores company suffixes:
e.g. "TechWorld Inc" matches "TechWorld Limited". - Phone Codes – Normalizes phone number formats by ignoring codes.
- Contact Name – Resolves nicknames to formal names:
e.g. "Dave" → "David", "Jim" → "James". - Post Name Titles – Ignores academic and professional titles:
e.g. "Sarah Johnson, PhD" matches "Sarah Johnson". - Surname Starters – Recognizes surname prefixes:
e.g. "Van der Berg" matches "Vanderberg". - Title – Ignores honorifics and titles:
e.g. "Mr John Smith" matches "John Smith".
Real-World Example:
Let’s say you’re matching two customer datasets. Without the Knowledge Base Library:
- "Mr. Andy Smith, MSc" might not match with "Andrew Smith"
With the Knowledge Base Library applied:
- "Andy" is recognized as a nickname for "Andrew"
- "Mr." and "MSc" are ignored
- Result: A successful match!
You can use the Knowledge Base Library Editor (only available on the Pro Business Pro & Enterprise editions) to create new libraries and edit existing ones.
